Why CEOs Succeed or Fail

Vivaldi Founder and CEO Erich Joachimsthaler discussed company leadership changes on Bloomberg Television’s “In The Loop.” Erich talked about the recent news of CEO changes at several companies and what that meant for those brands.

Erich explained that successful CEOs will seek out different market opportunities and new growth in adjacent categories for their brands. He also cautioned of the danger in assuming that a particular business model, supply chain, or business practice that is applicable in one particular category would also apply to another category.

Erich also spoke about the news that Mark Fields was named as the next CEO at Ford. He expanded on the challenges that will face Fields, likening him to Tim Cook succeeding Steve Jobs. Erich also spoke about how Greg Creed has been tapped as the new Yum! Brands CEO and on the issues that Creed will need to deal with in his new role.
